Mojopac: Portable PC on a USB--Review

Create your own personal portable PC on your USB, IPod, or other Media Devices!!

Whether you are a gamer, developer, web surfer, or plain old computer user, Mojopac can be very useful. You can practically create your own portable Windows XP PC on your USB, IPod, Zune, etc. You can bring it with you wherever you go! And Mojopac Freedom is completely free!! Here's how to use it:

1. Register at the mojopac website. Click here. Remember your username and password!

2.Download the latest (or beta) version of Mojopac here.

3.After the download completes, run the Mojopac Installer. Then plug in your USB/IPod/other media devices.

4.Before installation, it will ask you which device to install it on. Select the device you wish to have Mojopac downloaded on. It may also ask you if you want to download Mojopac Usher. Mojopac Usher allows you to use Mojopac on a non-admin account. Without this, you MUST have Admin privileges to use your Mojopac.

5.Install your Mojopac. You may need your web account username and password. (remember step one)? There should be directions for everything.

6.Open up your mojopac, type in your username and password, and let it load. (Note: because this is the first time you used the Mojopac, it might be a little slow in loading. It will be much faster the next time).

7.After the Mojopac has loaded, you will have a completely different Windows XP there. There will also be a Mojo Bar with some buttons. Press the "switch" button to switch between Mojo and the host computer.

8.Now you can download all the applications/programs you want on your Mojopac...and carry it around to access on any Windows XP computer. Enjoy!

Note: Mojopac can only operate on Windows XP. A Vista Beta test trial has been created for Windows Vista. Mojopac Vista Beta 2 has not yet been released. Also, as mentioned earlier, Mojopac can only be used on an Admin account.

Ranger's Apprentice Book 1 Review

Book 1 of the Ranger's Apprentice Series--The Ruins of Gorlan--was a great way to start of the series. The book was originally written as a set of short stories by the author (John Flanagan) for his son Michael. The series is now a bestseller.

The story starts with fifteen year old Will, son of a deceased hero, who lives in an orphanage. The setting is in medieval times, with knights, bowman, and castles. The story is also a fantasty, what with the monstrous, dog-like Wargals and the ape like Kalkara. Will's initial problem is his future. Most orphans become apprenticed to a Craftsmaster, and are taken care of well. Will, however, shows no talent that the craftmasters look for in their apprentices. He is not strong like Horace, diplomatic like Alyss, a great chef like Jenny, or has legal skills like George. His problem is eventually sorted out, however, when Ranger Halt chooses him for his apprentice, a rare opportunity. Rangers are a mysterious arcane group that is said to have dabbled with black magic. They can turn themselves invisible, wield massive longbows, and seem to appear out of nowhere. They are the kingdom's intelligence force. Will, Halt, and Gilan (a former apprentice of Halt's) are eventually ordered to track down and kill the Kalkara, evil, ape/bear-like creatures. They are wickedly fast, decievingly strong, and have a stare that can paralyze any man with fear. They also have an impenetrable natural armor. Will is ordered to get two strong knights and bring them to the Ruins of Gorlan, where Halt is waiting to rendezvous with Gilan (who is travelling on foot). When he gets there however, one of the two Kalkara has mortal wounds and is quickly finished off. The other however, is chasing an injured Halt. The two knights attack the Kalkara, but one is injured in the back and the other is frozen by the Kalkara's paralyzing stare. It is up to Will to save these men's lives, but how. Find out in the first book of the Ranger's Apprentice Series!

Ranger's Apprentice Book 2 Review

Ranger's Apprentice, Book 2, The Burning Bridge is the sequel to The Ruins of Gorlan. The setting is in medieval times, and it is a fantasy. The main character, Will, is a Ranger Apprenticed to Halt. In book one, Will and Halt had tracked down and killed two Kalkara, terrifying assasins deployed by Morgorath. Once again, in this book, the enemy is the renegade Morgorath, who has built a bridge across the canyon that separates main character Will's kingdom of Araluen from Morgorath's rebel kingdom. This secret bridge allows Morgorath's army to cross in large numbers and attack. When Will, his friend Horace, and the princess of Araluen find the bridge, they immediately burn it. Will however, is taken prisoner by Skandians, who are allied to Morgorath. Cassandra (the princess) and Horace escape to bring news of the bridge back to Araluen. Morgorath's army has now crossed over into Araluen from a different route, and though the surprise force from the bridge is no longer possible, proceeds with his attack. He plans to have his Skandian allies attack from one side, and his own Wargals (brute, dog-like warriors) attack from another. The Skandian force, however, is defeated by a force led by Halt, and the Araluen army gains the advantage and destroys Morgorath's wargal army. To get his revenge on Halt, Morgorath challenges him to a knightly combat, but is challenged by Horace first. The battle begins with Horace's (or Morgorath's) life in balance. Find out the ending in the second book of the Ranger's Apprentice series.

Ranger's Apprentice Series Review

The Ranger's Apprentice series, written by John Flannagan, was originally published in Australia and is now available in many countries around the world. As of current, seven books have been written in Australia, with four released in the U.S.

The story is based in a medieval setting, and is clearly a fantasy. There are chivalrous knights, brute, ugly monsters, and, of course, Rangers. The four books in the U.S. include:

1.The Ruins of Gorlan

2.The Burning Bridge

3.The Icebound Land

4.The Battle for Skandia

The first two books are about the kingdom's battle with renegade Morgorath. In Book 2, Morgorath is killed by a main character and the next book is about finding Will, the main character, who has been captured by Morgorath's allies--Skandians. Horace (the teenager who killed Morgorath) and Halt (Will's Ranger Mentor) find Will in Book Four. They then unite with Skandia to fight a common enemy known as the Temujai. After winning the battle, they go back home. The book is very interesting and captivating. I suggest everybody read this book (if they have spare time).

Ranger's Apprentice Book 3 Review

Ranger's Apprentice Book 3

Ranger's Apprentice, book three, is the third book in a fantasy series about young ranger apprentice Will, and his friends. Book three, the Icebound Land, begins with young Will and princess Cassandra of Araluen landing in Hollasholm, as prisoners. They are soon forced to work as slaves in the palace. Cassandra works in the kitchen, while Will works in the yard.
At the same time, Will's Ranger teacher, Halt, and his friend Horace, are traveling through Gallica to save Will and Cassandra. They must battle the rogue knights of Gallica. This is no problem for Horace, a muscular knight-in-training and a natural with the sword. Soon, however, word of their existence reaches the cruel tyrant of the area and Halt and Horace are imprisoned. They must fight if they ever wish to get back home, not to mention save Will and Cassandra.
Back in Hollasholm, Will becomes addicted to warmweed. A softhearted Skandian (the people of Hollasholm) helps Will and Cassandra escape into the high mountains near Hollasholm. There, Cassandra must slowly rid Will of his addiction to warmweed. But they do not have much time before they are found, and Cassandra must cure Will's addiction and escape before they are found. It is a race against time, and who will win? Find out in the third book in the fantastic Ranger's Apprentice Series!
